When Interac opened the Interac Lab at Communitech in 2018, we sought a dedicated space for research, development and hands-on experimentation to tackle product and industry challenges – in the heart of the Kitchener-based tech community. This outpost is a natural extension of our core values of innovation, resourcefulness, agility and collaboration and immerses us deeper into Canada’s tech community. Today, it provides us another opportunity: to support the Communitech goal of helping the Kitchener-Waterloo Region’s most vulnerable during COVID-19.
On May 5, Interac joined forces with Communitech and other members of the Waterloo tech community for This, Too, Will Pass, a tech-for-good fundraiser supporting mental health, women and youth in crisis and the homeless population through the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation. To help reach Communitech’s $180,000 fundraising goal, member organizations of Communitech’s tech network will double donations made by corporate organizations and triple personal donations from tech employees and other supporters.
“At Interac, partnerships are built on a foundation of trust and shared values, including socially-conscious tech and innovation,” said Debbie Gamble, Chief Officer, Innovation Labs & New Ventures. “We’re proud of the work Communitech is doing to rally the tech community to support those in Kitchener-Waterloo who have been impacted during COVID-19.”
At Interac, we’re committed to supporting Canadian communities through our partnerships and enabling the Canadian digital ecosystem. Learn how we’re responding to COVID-19 here.
