Interac is excited to announce that Conni Gibson has joined Interac as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Conni brings over 20 years of compliance and legal experience to her role at Interac. She has deep expertise in managing legal and regulatory risk relating to technology and operations, acquisitions, securities and derivatives in the financial services industry.
Conni joins Interac from Bank of Montreal where she was Vice-President and Chief Legal Officer of Technology and Operations and Corporate Areas. Leading a team in Toronto and Chicago, Conni was responsible for providing legal support and managing the legal and regulatory risk for T&O as well as all Corporate Areas including Risk, HR, Strategy, Marketing and Finance. Prior to this role, Conni was Vice-President and Chief Compliance Officer for BMO’s Personal and Commercial Banking division, where she drove transformational change to ensure compliance programs in personal and commercial banking met regulatory expectations and best practices. She also held progressive roles in the US, Canadian and International Capital Markets, Derivatives and Corporate Affairs legal groups during her 13-year tenure at BMO.
Conni previously worked at Torys LLP, McCarthy Tétrault LLP, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, all leading law firms where she advised clients on legal matters related to corporate, commercial, and domestic and international transactions.
The recipient of numerous industry and academic accolades, Conni has taught securities classes at Osgoode Hall School, and co-authored numerous publications. She actively supports her community as a member of the United Way Toronto Law Firm Cabinet and has taken leadership with BMO’s pro bono New York program, United Way of NY Law Firm Committee and Women’s Leadership Council and has a long history of volunteerism in organizations such as Ronald MacDonald House, UNICEF and more.
Conni’s extensive experience and knowledge in technology and operations as well as commercial banking will be an asset to Interac as we prioritize technology delivery and investment into our commercial focus.
