Adapted from the annual Employee Appreciation Week, Interac has launched “Employee Appreciation Summer,” a three month-long celebration which includes extra days off, early closures to spend time with family and friends, and virtual employee engagement events in support of small businesses.
Our Executive team, Diversity & Inclusion team and employee-led Social Committee are committed to keeping wellness and mental health a priority so employees can enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. We know our employees are committed to delivering the best for Canadians – that’s why we’ve been recognized as one of Canada’s most trusted brands throughout the pandemic.
So, what does Employee Appreciation Summer mean?
Extended Long Weekends to Focus on Employee Wellness
Interac will close its home offices the Friday before the three summer long weekends. Employees will turn on their out-of-office notices and take some extra time to recharge. Since most employees will be participating, there will be no impending build-up of emails in the inbox when we come back online.
Closing Early During the Summer
Work-life balance is essential to health and happiness, so we have flexible working options available all year round. Between Victoria Day and Labour Day long weekends, Interac will be “closing” at 3 p.m. each Friday instead of our usual 5 p.m. More time to enjoy the summer.
Virtual Events to Keep us Connected
The Interac Social Committee is planning several virtual events this summer to keep us engaged and connected. They are partnering with small businesses such as local restaurants to host cooking classes and game nights for some healthy competition. Previously, Interac has hosted virtual cooking and cocktail making classes, a paint night and murder mystery and musical bingo games.
Dedicated Quiet Hours for Employees
Everyone faces different challenges when working from home. Employees may feel heightened levels of stress while trying to balance work and home during the pandemic. Quiet Hours are three one-hour blocks for all employees to use as they need. We do not book meetings over Quiet Hours so employees can find time to refocus, manage household tasks and take the time to recharge.
We know helping our employees stay happy, healthy and inspired is key to a motivated workplace and our success. We are committed to supporting work-life balance, especially during these unusual times.
