This year was full of opportunity and celebration at Interac. We acquired cyber security and digital ID company 2Keys, our first acquisition as Interac Corp., and also received numerous awards for our organizational successes and people. From being presented industry-wide accolades such as Canada’s Most Trusted Financial Services Brand to an Interac leader being recognized as a Tech Titan, 2019 was one for the books. Below is a snapshot of the awards Interac earned this year:
#1 in Financial Services Brand: Gustavson Brand Trust Index
Trust is at the core of what we do at Interac, which is why we are honoured to be recognized as Canada’s Most Trusted Financial Services Brand for the fifth year in a row. The Gustavson Brand Trust Index measures Canadian consumers’ opinions about corporate and product brands across various categories.
Kikelomo Lawal: Most Influential Women in Payments
Kikelomo Lawal serves as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Interac and was recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in Payments by PaymentsSource in 2019. Kikelomo has played an instrumental role in the enormous change Interac has undergone as a company. Her leadership in managing the Accountability, Governance and Oversight team and Board, and Shareholder interactions has helped Interac evolve and excel.
Peter Sweers: Canada’s Tech Titans Top 19 of 2019
Peter Sweers, Chief Technology & Operations Officer at Interac, was acknowledged as one of Canada’s top Tech Titans in 2019. This award recognizes the most prominent innovative technology leaders from across the country. Sweers’ team of over 150 Interac employees is responsible for modernizing the Interac network to prepare for the future of payments.
Silver ACE Award: Investor or Financial Relations Campaign of the Year
Our 2018 Fraud Prevention Month campaign, Avoid a #Clicktastrophe, brought home a silver medal at the Canadian Public Relations Society’s annual Achieving Communications Excellence (ACE) awards. This campaign aimed to educate Canadians on different tips and tricks they can use in their everyday lives to protect themselves against fraud both on and offline.
Debbie Gamble: FemTech Leader of the Year
Debbie Gamble, Chief Officer, Innovation Labs and New Ventures was named FemTech Leader of the Year at the Digital Finance Institute’s 5th Annual Canadian FinTech and AI Awards. The FemTech Leader of the Year Award recognizes a woman who is a leader in technology in FinTech, innovating with Canada. Debbie drives our innovation strategy and mines for new venture and partnership opportunities at Interac. Her firsthand experience with such innovations as mobile commerce, digital ID and cryptocurrency solutions make her one of the country’s most seasoned authorities on the digital economy.
Best Organic Reach Campaign: YouTube Works Awards
The Marketing team at Interac brought home a YouTube Works Award for the Best Organic Reach Campaign – the Interac $100 challenge. The challenge encouraged creators to create relatable content and leverage different YouTube ad formats to raise awareness on Interac Flash for millennial consumers.
