Since the onset of COVID-19 in March, Interac data shows that debit transactions in the restaurant category have dropped by about 66 per cent at point of sale compared to the same period last year. This retail category is among the hardest hit by COVID-19. To support those in the hospitality industry who have been impacted, the Canadian Hospitality Worker Relief Fund (CHWRF) provides one-time grants to restaurant and hospitality workers who find themselves impacted by COVID-19. The fund was created by founding partners Welbilt, Garland, Uber Eats and Nella Cucina. Applications open May 6th.
