Mindfulness & Money for Women seeks to help break down unique barriers women face in staying in control of their money
Toronto, ON – March 30, 2023 – When it comes to managing finances in this turbulent economy, research conducted by Interac*, found that women are 64% more likely to say that they face financial barriers than other demographics. Further, women were among the highest surveyed to agree that a lack of financial knowledge contributes to feeling overwhelmed.
With these findings in mind, Interac Corp. and Conscious Economics have launched Mindfulness & Money for Women, a free digital learning program that is informed by community experts and seeks to help all self-identified women break down some of the barriers they’re facing in building financial confidence and staying in control of their money.
This new program features advice from a variety of women leaders who have overcome their own financial obstacles, including Brandi Leifso, Founder and CEO of EVIO Beauty, who was living in a domestic violence shelter when she launched what is now a $15,000,000+ business. The content of this program focuses on important issues such as how money can influence our relationships, self-worth, conscious consumerism, and setting financial goals.
“Through our research, we know that women are facing unique barriers in building financial confidence and staying in control of their money,” said Daria Hill, Vice President, Marketing & Communications, at Interac Corp. “We continue to expand the Mindfulness & Money program to give women the opportunity to hear directly from other women on how they can boost their financial well-being and gain a new set of tools that empower in the New Economy and Future of Work.”
Mindfulness & Money for Women is an extension of the preexisting Mindfulness & Money platform which incorporates mindfulness tools to enhance financial confidence, including holistic, accessible, digital financial wellness modules, engaging activities, and interactive events to support Canadians in building their financial confidence.
Since the fall of 2022, more than 44,000 Canadians have participated in the program, strengthening their financial well-being skills through the lens of mindfulness.
Digital learning through the lens of mindfulness and community
Interac has a longstanding partnership with Conscious Economics and both organizations are committed to the advancement of women in the community and financial literacy. Conscious Economics devoted this program for women to optimize engagement and invite everyone to join the conversation.
“Traditional financial literacy programs attempt to improve financial confidence using tips and information rooted strictly in logic and reason. Unfortunately, these programs rarely result in lasting behaviour change because our relationship to money is emotionally driven by the unconscious,” said Rhiannon Rosalind, Creator & Chief Visionary Officer at Conscious Economics. “Mindfulness & Money is uniquely designed to help participants understand what’s truly driving their financial decisions, while also helping them reprogram the beliefs that prevent them from achieving financial well-being. This is how we build the conscious economy.”
In addition to the Mindfulness & Money program, Interac is proud to be the leading corporate champion of Conscious Economics’ Heartwork: Advancing Women in Leadership program, alongside other trusted Canadian brands to address the gender inequity gap across the nation.

About the research
An online nationwide survey was undertaken among a total of 1,500 Canadian adults, age 18 years and older. Quotas and weighting were applied to ensure proportionate representation of the Canadian adult population in terms of gender, age, region, and education, according to the most recent Statistics Canada census data available. The study was fielded in English and French from October 19 to 25, 2022.
