What is the Digital Charter and why is it important? The Digital Charter was recently announced by the Government of Canada. It includes a set of ten principles that are meant to serve as the foundation for how issues around data and privacy are navigated in an increasingly digital world. In this digital world, it is important that we are able to trust that our privacy is protected, and that our data won’t be misused. Building this trust relies on governments, citizens and businesses working together.
We spoke with Iain Klugman, CEO of Communitech — one of Canada’s leading technology and innovation hubs — and asked him for his thoughts on the Digital Charter and why it will be important for Canada in the future.
