If you accept Interac Flash®, you can accept mobile payments. Faster than chip and PIN transactions, mobile payments give your customers the ability to pay using their mobile wallet in a fast, convenient and secure way - while allowing you to stay at the forefront of payment technology.
As a leader in security, safety and fraud management, our mobile payment solutions offer you the same world-class protection you currently receive from us. You will continue to receive the benefits of secure and non-refutable transactions, including no chargebacks associated with PIN-based Interac® Debit.
Our mobile payment solutions allow consumers to pay for purchases quickly, securely and conveniently using their mobile devices.
Customers who have added their eligible Interac debit card to their mobile wallet can make mobile debit transactions at any Canadian merchant that accepts contactless payments.
The customer simply holds their mobile device against the contactless terminal and the purchase will automatically be debited from the customer’s account. Payment authentication steps may vary depending on the mobile wallet and device being used.
Refunds and exchanges are a matter of merchant policy between you and your payment service provider. Returning an item that was purchased with a mobile device is just like any other return. The refund is processed over the Interac network, provided the customer is present to authorize the refund transaction using their mobile device and your contactless terminal.
We do not directly charge fees to merchants. Our members or their business partners who offer Interac services to merchants may charge fees for use of the services. Mobile transactions at point-of-sale are processed and billed by your payment service provider just like an Interac Flash transaction. Our fees to these payment service providers are the same for both types of transactions. For more information on merchant fees, please contact your acquirer or payment service provider.
Interac mobile payment solutions build on the existing functionality and security of Interac Flash and Interac Debit technology. Your customers can pay in confidence when they make purchases using Interac Debit on Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay as each transaction is authorized with a one-time token using the Interac TSP. All solutions offer strong consumer protections such as transaction limits, passcode or biometric verification and zero customer liability.
If you are a merchant that offers goods or services for sale online through the web or a mobile app to Canadian consumers, you can offer Interac Debit as an in-app or in-browser payment method.
You should check with your current Acquirer or payment processor to find out if they offer Interac Debit as an in-app or in-browser payment method.
